i.Origin

What is a Dzi bead

An agate stone marked with patterns by master craftsmen in the Himalayas using a traditional etching technique.

The technique passes down through generations and isn't reproduced industrially. Every bead goes through the hands of a specific master.

Tibetans have worn them for over three thousand years. In different regions they're called «heavenly pearls» and treated as serious objects, not decoration.

The reason most often given

First and foremost — a talisman. A bead with a specific symbol and meaning, worn as a sign of intention.

Beyond that, Dzi beads are worn as a companion to meditative practice, a collector's object, and as jewelry with meaning. You can start with any reason. Over time it often changes.

Who's behind the shop

My name is Aleksei Odintsov. I've worked professionally with Dzi beads for eighteen years.

Over those years I've built direct relationships with masters and experts in the Himalayas. The beads come straight from them. I personally select each one — by pattern, by stone, by feel.

That's how I can guarantee the authenticity of everything in the shop.

iv.Two paths

How to choose your Dzi

There are two working approaches. Both are valid. They can be used together.

01
Through meaning
Read the meanings of different Dzi types and choose the one whose symbolism resonates with what matters to you right now. Protection, change, health, abundance, clarity — every moment of life has its own request.
02
Through intuition
Just look at the beads and pick the one that draws your eye. In Tibetan tradition, it's said that a Dzi bead «finds» its person on its own. It works — try it.
v.Care & wearing

What to know after you receive it

Most practical questions answered before they come up. Take what's useful, leave the rest.

01When it arrives
Before wearing, the bead is traditionally «introduced» to you: hold it in your hands, sit with it for a few minutes in silence. You can mentally form an intention. All beads are smudged with incense before shipping — they arrive cleansed and ready to work.
02How to wear it
Usually on the wrist or around the neck — on the body, so there's tactile contact. You can wear it constantly or only during important moments. Both ways are valid.
03Altar beads
Not every Dzi is worn on the body. Some are kept on a home altar, a desk, or in a special box. The presence of the object matters more than the form of wearing.
04Can it get wet
Yes. Agate isn't damaged by water. Saltwater and chlorine won't harm the stone, but the cord may wear out faster.
05If the cord breaks
Not a bad sign. Just re-string it — many people do this every year or two.
06Giving as a gift
Personal but giftable. Cleanse with incense before passing to another person — this removes the imprint accumulated during wearing.
07Monthly care
Once a month, cleanse the bead: rinse under running water or smudge with incense. The bead accumulates everyday influences and periodically needs renewal.
vi.Frequently asked

Common questions

Yes. The Dzi bead is part of Tibetan culture, not a religious artifact. People with all kinds of beliefs wear them, both inside Tibet and beyond. No religious affiliation is required.
